An equitable economic
recovery benefits everyone.

It’s time for equitable
economic growth

Chicago’s growth and economic outlook has lagged since the Great Recession, and the economic divide between white communities and communities of color further deepened during the pandemic. We must act quickly and strategically to bend the curve of recovery toward equity. To do so, We Rise Together is focusing significant investments on long-disinvested Black and Latinx communities whose success will transform the entire Chicago region.

We believe in—and invest in—Black and Latinx communities

We Rise Together: For an Equitable and Just Recovery is an unprecedented coalition of corporate and philanthropic funders and communities working together to accelerate equity in our region’s economic recovery. Our three intersecting goals are:

  • spurring development in disinvested neighborhoods,
  • increasing quality, resilient employment, and
  • strengthening Black and Latinx-owned businesses.
